UX DESIGN FOR FAST GROWING STARTUPS

Here in Bonanza Design, we specialize in helping startups grow big. In the past two years of working with more than 20 startup companies, we detected similar patterns as to how startups design experiences and develop products.UX design is definitely one of the most misunderstood concepts by startups. It is often referred to as prototyping, UI design, or usability testing.UX design is about reimagining the human experience. The example we often make is the Clubhouse app. Technologically speaking, Clubhouse is no breakthrough but experience-wise it is. The clubhouse mimics a real conversation on a stage with an audience.

INTRODUCING BONANZA DESIGN EXCLUSIVE UX DESIGN PROCESS

With our extensive experience working with startups across the globe, we designed a process specifically made for growing businesses. This is a razor-sharp process that combines speed with quality. That’s what we deliver. We’ve done this over and over again. Completion only in three weeks. There might be a case that some projects need more than three weeks. However, if the client is available and responsive in a timely fashion, then we usually finish a project in three weeks. This is a design sprint and given our participatory design process, the client inputs play a major role in the success of the project.

BONANZA DESIGN PROCESS

Regardless of the size of the startup and the nature of the project, our promise is ????-???????????????? ????????????????????????????????. And if we don't, it's on us. How do we do it? Check this out.

STEP 1: SCOOPING FETCH REQUIREMENTS

Scooping

UX Design Sprint is usually great for designing MVPs or Epic features. To define the requirement for the sprint, together with the client, we conduct a product discovery workshop and define the scope of the project by looking into- Product Backlog- Typical customer complains- User and market research

STEP 2: EMPATHIZE WITH THE USER

Empathize with user

Now we know about the goal of the sprint, it's time to empathize with your customers and users. Empathizing with your target audience through extensive user research helps us understand their current journey to face their problems in detail and places us in a position to reimagine their situation and improve it.

STEP 3: DO A COMPETITIVE STUDY

competitive study

Next, we do an extensive competitor analysis. We do a complete surgery and break down the competitor's platform screen by screen, use case by use case.Out of this research, we create a big digital gallery board on Figma made available to both our team and yours. Why do we need this? This gives us an idea of what has been successfully done by the others and what gaps they are in terms of creating new values for your target audience. We’ll have several workshops with you on this and through an iterative process, develop the concept of the new product.

STEP 4: CREATE BUYERS PERSONA

create buyer's persona

Creating buyer’s personas is a pivotal step in our process. We always design for a group of people. Personas help us understand the common characteristics shared by them. Check out our other blog about: HOW TO CREATE USER PERSONAS THE RIGHT WAY?Each business has a different and many types of buyers persona. We don't need to address the needs of all the personas. Typically at every stage of product maturity, there are certain personas that drive the most revenue which usually follows the Pareto Principle of 20-80 rule i.e. 80% of the effect caused by 20% of variables. Meaning if your business deals with 10 buyers’ personas, up to 3 of the personas drive the most revenue.

STEP 5: CREATE STORYBOARD

create story board startups

UX design is all about defining and designing customers' stories. After knowing the buyers’ personas through our research, now we can rewrite their stories through storyboarding. We create as many stories as possible and through an iterative process with you, finalize the most exciting, ambitious stories that address the needs of the major personas.

STEP 6: CREATE USER FLOWS

create user flows

In this part, we will break down the anatomy of the potential app that will deliver your buyers to the new experience. User flows give you a bird's eye view of how your user will interact with your new app, pages, or buttons that will deliver a great experience.

STEP 7: CREATE LOW FIDELITY PROTOTYPES

startup low fidelity

We already understand the overall behavior of the app, it's time to test it by making a prototype for each page. And what's the faster way to do it: PEN AND PAPER. Yes trust me it's an oldie but goodie old fashion way but it's faster than any interface application.

STEP 8: FEEDBACK LOOPS - FINALIZING PROTOTYPES

startups feedback loops

This is the time we present and finalize our low-fidelity prototypes to our clients. We will have a touch and feel session, iterative sessions of what will be the new look through the prototype. The best tools that we use for this are Figma or Adobe XD, so we can gather feedback quickly from all stakeholders.

STEP 9: HIGH FIDELITY - DESIGN PIXEL-PERFECT INTERFACES

startups high fidelity

At this phase, we develop a design system using the design we create for the screen to screen of the app in pixel perfect. You may also read our blog: UX DESIGN SPRINT: DESIGN PIXEL PERFECT DIGITAL PRODUCTS IN THREE WEEKS

STEP 10: CONDUCT A FEW ROUNDS OF USER TESTING

This point is a make-or-breakpoint. After the high fidelity design, time to conduct a few rounds of the user testing process. If the designs get strong passes, then it's time to wrap up the project.

STEP 11: WRAP UP AND HAND OVER TO THE WEB DEVELOPER

Job well done for us and this time. All we have to do is clean up the interfaces, finalize the design and hand it over on Figma.Figma is where everything happens, beginning, middle, and the end of the project, it's all in Figma.
