We redesigned the user experience to transition from standard EV charging to VPP(Virtual Power Plant)-based optimization.
To improve smart energy management, we worked with Ostrom to integrate Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology into their app, enabling users to automate EV charging and reduce costs while earning revenue.



For VPP to work, users must see the value— not just the technology behind it
Transitioning users to optimized EV charging involved overcoming technical, behavioral, and educational challenges. Ensuring seamless adoption required addressing knowledge gaps and aligning with users' charging habits.

End-to-End Journey: From Wireframing to Marketing Support
We adopted a minimal and rapid process focused on design tasks while collaborating closely with the Ostrom team during the testing phase and providing visual support for marketing.
User flow mapping
We identified and mapped out various charging scenarios, addressing potential edge cases, user behavior, and key points where users might encounter issues with the automated system.
Wireframing & UI design
Starting with wireframes, we developed high-fidelity designs that aligned with the existing design system for visual consistency. Through iterative feedback cycles, we refined these designs to their final form.
Usability testings & iterations
We developed an interactive prototype focusing on core user flows and interactions. After the Ostrom team tested it with pilot customers, we used their feedback to enhance the design's clarity and usability.
Delivery
We delivered two versions of the flow—one for the MVP and the final version, ensuring seamless handoff to the development team for implementation.
Marketing support
We provided visual support for marketing, including designing a landing page in Webflow and creating promotional assets to drive awareness and engagement for the VPP feature.
